National Librarians’ Day was celebrated at Bharatesh Education Trust’s Global Business
School (BETGBS) Library along with rest of the country to pay tribute to father of Library
Science Dr. S R Ranganathan on his birthday. BETGBS Library celebrated the day by
organizing a book exhibition for its all stakeholders.Prof. Vinayak M. Bankapur, Senior Professor at Library & Information Science department,
Rani Channamma University, Belagavi, Shri Vinod Doddanavar, Secretary, BET, Shri.
Sharad Balikai, GC-Chairman BETGBS, paid tribute to Padmashree Dr. Ranganathan and
inaugurated the book exhibition.
Addressing the participants Prof. Vinayak M. Bankapur informed that National Librarians’
Day is celebrated in India on August 12 th in remembrance of Padmashree Dr. Ranganathan,
who spearheaded library development in India. Sir also mentioned the importance of reading
and role of libraries in critical thinking and development of decision science among the
readers who read books in physical form rather in the online mode. Sir also guided students
on five laws of Libraries for a better professional development.
Shri Vinod Doddanavar sir described the importance of library and the vital role of a librarian
in molding and shaping the readers. Sir also highlighted the significance of Digital library in
today’s knowledge era and key behind successful people is book reading.
Shri. Sharad Balikai in his presidential remarks mentioned about the role of librarians to work
towards meeting the information needs of the people by providing high quality information
system and making awareness about the availability of new resources for the users.
More than 200 visitors were witnessed the book exhibition and received rich insights on the
library resources on the occasion of National Librarians’ Day
