Bharatesh Education Trust’s Global Business School and Bharatesh Homeopathic Medical College in association with Indian Red Cross Society Belgaum observed World No Tobacco day on 31st May 2016. The programme began with inauguration ceremony at BET campus for which Dr. S. B. Kulkarni, Chairman of Indian Red Cross Society, Belgaum District, Shri Ashok Badami, Honarary Secretary of Indian Red Cross Society, Belgaum District, Shr. Vikas Kalghatagi, Honarary Treasurer of Indian Red Cross Society, Belgaum District, Shri. V.S Sankeshwar NSS officer, Dr. Rajeev Patil, Prof and HOD of OBG, Bharatesh Homeopathic Medical College were present. Dr. Govind Welling, Member of Indian Red Cross Society and Director of BET’S Global Business School welcomed the gathering. On this occasion Chief Guest of the programme Dr. S. B. Kulkarni, Chairman of Indian Red Cross Society Belgaum District has highlighted upon the impact of consumption of tobacco and tobacco products. He also spoke to the students about tobacco products which are made up from the fresh leaves of nicotine which effects the entire body system and results into many critical health issues like heart attacks, strokes, Chronic, emphysema, many forms of cancer donation and makes a person blind also. He also mentioned about smoking in small places would results into paying a fine of Rs. 500. He also mentioned that we have to cautious when we use herbal toothpaste and carefully read its contents. Shri Vinod Doddanavar, President of the Programme spoke to the students that it is everyone’s responsibility to at least convert one person from consumption of tobacco to a non consumer.
On this observation there was a rally organized which had commenced from Bharatesh Education Trust Campus to CBT to Sangolli Rayanna Circle and ended at Rani Channamma Circle. More than 100 students along with faculty members of BET’S Global Business School and Bharatesh Homeopathic Medical College have participated in the rally holding the placards creating awareness among the public upon the effects of tobacco consumption and used slogans as Buy Tobacco and Get Cancer Free, Make every Day No Tobacco day and leave consumption of Tobacco and live healthy life.
Mr. Moses, Student of MBA 2nd semester proposed Vote of thanks and Prof. Ranjana Upashi coordinated the programme along with the MBA students of Global Business School.
