Seeking I ntellectual Property Associate Attorney with a background in computer science or electrical engineering to join our Intellectual Property team. This is an exciting opportunity to work with a dynamic team on cutting-edge intellectual property matters.
* 2 to 5 years of patent prosecution experience
* Active Pennsylvania Bar License (Required to practice in Pittsburgh, PA)
* Law firm experience
* Technical background (BS/MS preferred) in computer circuits, multiprocessor design, and/or telecommunications
* USPTO registration (or Patent Bar eligibility)
* Strong research, writing, and analytical skills
* Familiarity with intellectual property law and patent litigation procedures
* Litigation experience is a plus but not required
* Interview inventors and prepare patent applications
* Draft and prosecute U.S. and foreign patent applications , including ex parte appeals
* Conduct validity, infringement, and freedom-to-operate studies , including preparing associated legal opinion letters
* Provide legal counsel on intellectual property matters, with a primary focus on patent law , and support licensing, trademark, and copyright matters
* Collaborate with partners, associates, and support staff to ensure effective case management
* Stay informed on developments in intellectual property law and contribute to the firm's knowledge base
