The University of Miami’s School of Communication is seeking applications for a one-year appointment for a Visiting Scholar in Communication at the Visiting Assistant Professor rank beginning in Fall 2025. This position will begin August 15, 2025 and terminate May 15, 2026. The position entails teaching two courses and service on behalf of the School of Communication in the 2025/2026 academic year. The service commitment includes support of the Digital Dialogues Initiative. This support will engage the work of the two Knight Chairs, Alberto Cairo and Lindsay Grace, and the Communication School Dean Wilkins. This position requires a Ph.D. degree in communication or a related field or an MFA/Master of Fine Arts as a terminal degree.
Our two Knight Chairs are developing programs in data design and literacy, and in game design and intervention. The mission of these initiatives foregrounds the significance of communication technologies, as forces for positive change and social justice, leveraging the resources of higher education to have impact in our society. Proposed work across these areas includes developing courses and curricula, hosting conferences and workshops; cataloging and archiving innovations and practices; and exhibiting cases that inform dialogue.
