Job description:

1. The contractor shall provide professional phlebotomy services to inmates.
2. The contractor shall be responsible for, but not limited to the following tasks: 
3. Ordering laboratory studies in the Laboratory Information System
4. Drawing blood samples on ordered studies, preparing samples for processing.
5. Maintaining logs and records, filling out appropriate laboratory request forms,
6. Restocking Phlebotomy supplies as needed.
7. Advising the Laboratory Supervisor when equipment requires professional maintenance or repair.
8. Maintenance of laboratory logs and other records as necessary for complying with Clinical Laboratory Improvement Amendment (CLIA) guidelines.
9. Informing the Laboratory Supervisor of all information pertaining to the services rendered, i.e., specimen(s) obtained, and reporting any problems arising in regards to laboratory services. 
10. Normally, the duties of the contractor would not require direct entries in the inmate's medical record. 
11. However, some information generated by the contactor may be included in the inmate's medical record. The contractor is responsible for providing technical and clerical support to the laboratory.

Required Skills

1. All contractors must provide documentary evidence of completion of Phlebotomy certification exam.
2. All contractors will provide documentary evidence of CPR certification.
