Metropolitan State Hospital is located in Norwalk, Los Angeles County.

The Department of State Hospitals – Metropolitan, Plant Operations, is accepting applications for the Painter I, Permanent/Full Time position.

Under direction of the Paint Supervisor, the Painter I is responsible for completing tasks as assigned to maintain the facility. These assignments may include, but are not limited to, repairing broken windows, sanding and painting walls, erecting scaffolding, keeping simple records and preparing reports.

Minimum Qualifications

Either I:  Completion of a recognized apprenticeship in painting and finishing. (Apprentices who are within six months of completing their apprenticeship program may be admitted to the examination, but must present evidence of completion prior to appointment.)

Or II: Fours years of varied experience in the painting and finishing of wood and metal surfaces. An Associate of Arts or Certificate of Arts Degree in Painting and Finishing from an accredited community college may be substituted for two years of the required experience. (Students who are within six months of completing their degree will be admitted to the examination but must present evidence of completion prior to appointment.)
