POSITION SUMMARY:

Bennett Law Center is seeking a seasoned and strategic Managing Attorney to lead our Legal Department. In this senior-level role, you will directly supervise a team of attorneys and legal support staff while ensuring the delivery of high-quality legal services across a broad range of immigration matters. You will manage your own small case load with a billable requirement of 1,000 hours per year. Additionally, you will work closely with the Director of Legal Services to oversee operations, shape departmental strategy, and drive professional development for your team.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Staff Supervision and Management

  • Supervise Associate and Senior Attorneys, Paralegals, and Legal Assistants.
  • Monitor quality and productivity of legal work.
  • Conduct performance evaluations, coaching, and feedback to support staff development.
  • Identify training needs and coordinate with leadership to implement solutions.
  • Manage a small case load of complex or high-priority cases.
  • Provide surge support for Removal, Family and Humanitarian cases.

Sales and Legal Operations

  • Serve as the primary Consulting Attorney on incoming cases.
  • Collaborate with the Director of Legal Services on hiring, budgeting, and internal process improvements.

Strategic Leadership

  • Proactively identify opportunities to expand BLC’s legal service offerings.
  • Help refine case selection and referral processes.
  • Participate in strategic planning for the legal department and firmwide initiatives.

Outreach & Collaboration

  • Foster a strong internal culture of collaboration within the legal team and across departments.
  • Represent BLC at community events, CLE panels, and bar associations.
  • Lead outreach and training initiatives for local community partners and client-facing organizations.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree and active license in good standing with a U.S. state bar (Florida preferred).
  • Minimum 7+ years of experience practicing U.S. immigration law.
  • Exceptional litigation and removal defense background preferred.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of both immigrant and non-immigrant visa categories.
  • Strong client service ethics and ability to conduct Strategy Sessions with potential new clients.
  • Demonstrated success in team leadership or law firm management.
  • Bilingual: English and Spanish fluency strongly preferred.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Occasional travel may be required.
