Licensed Optician

 
The Nielsen Eye Center is dedicated to providing our patients with the most advanced technology and the most experienced LASIK and Cataract surgeons with locations in Quincy, Norwell, Norwood, and Weymouth.

 
Pay: Starting at $27/hr. (commensurate with experience)


We are seeking a Licensed Optician to join a multi-specialty/multi-location ophthalmology practice. This position requires excellent sales ability, friendly, caring personality, and flexibility. Knowledge of frame board management/inventory and insurance plans required, and EMR a plus. Must be detail oriented and have the ability to multi-task. Travel between Norwell, Norwood, and Quincy offices required, and mileage reimbursement provided.


We are open Monday – Friday (Saturday rotation in Quincy location)


ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Interpreting the results of eye examinations and using patient prescriptions to advise patients on appropriate optical aids.
• Recommend products based on customers style and needs.
• Measuring patients to determine suitable types and styles of frames.
• Educate patients on proper ways to care for their glasses and contacts.
• Accurately prepare orders for glasses and contact lenses.
• Maintaining and overseeing inventory.

 
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

• High School graduate or equivalent.
• 2+ years of A/R medical billing and collections experience.
• Proficiency with Electronic Medical Records (EMR).
• State Licensure.
• Optical dispensing experience.
• Strong customer service skills: communicator and listener.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Excellent problem-solving skills.
• Dedicated to building patient relationships.
• Detail oriented.
• Ability to adapt in a fast-paced, ever-changing work environment.

 
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Previous customer service & retail experience.


OFFICE HOURS:

• Monday: 7:00AM - 3:30PM.
• Tuesday: 8:30AM – 5:00PM.
• Wednesday: 8:30AM - 5:00PM.
• Thursday: 8:30AM - 5:00PM.
• Friday: 7:00AM - 3:30PM.
• Saturday Rotation 8:00AM - 12:00PM (Quincy location only).

 
Full Time
40 Hours with full company benefits after 90 days, Mon – Fri
Part Time
Up to 29 hours a week, flexible hours with selective company benefits after 90 days.

Bilingual skills in Mandarin, Cantonese, Vietnamese, Spanish, and/or Portuguese a plus.
