We are seeking an embedded software engineer to contribute to our expanding portfolio of Internet-connected grill and accessory devices. You will be responsible for delivering new features, maintaining, and improving existing software. The ideal candidate enjoys solving technical challenges, managing multiple tasks, and is eager to grow their expertise in the consumer electronics space. You will collaborate with senior engineers and cross-functional teams, contributing to innovative projects while continuing to develop your skills.

Responsibilities

• Deliver new features and maintain existing software for Internet-connected grill and accessory devices.

• Collaborate with senior engineers and cross-functional teams on innovative projects.

• Solve technical challenges and manage multiple tasks efficiently.

• Grow technical expertise and contribute to the consumer electronics field.

Essential Skills

• Proficiency in C and Python, with approximately 4 years of experience.

• Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or similar field.

• 4+ years of experience in embedded software.

• Experience with Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, SPI, I2C, UART, and USB.

• Motivation to grow in career, with potential for promotion and project management.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Experience with RTOS and bare metal programming.

• Familiarity with Rust, C++, and desire to learn Rust within the first 6-9 months if not previously experienced.

Work Environment

The work environment consists of a small, dynamic team of five members, including a control engineer, a tech lead for HMI/portable products, and a cross-functional team member. The manager is hands-on and responsible for manufacturing test programs. This opportunity is mostly remote, requiring on-site presence only twice a month for firmware and hardware work. The team shares information closely, fosters learning, and takes pride in creating products that are commonly used and appreciated by consumers. You will have the rewarding experience of working on products visible in stores and households.

Job Type & Location

This is a Permanent position based out of Palatine, Illinois.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $115000.00 - $135000.00/yr.
