Pay Range: $22.95 - $29.32 per hour

The compensation offered to the candidate selected for the position will depend on several factors, including the candidate's educational background, skills and professional experience.

Job Summary:

A Certified Medical Assistant performs routine clinical and clerical tasks under the direction of a physician or other health practitioner.  Clinical duties may include taking and recording vital signs, medical histories, preparing patients for examination, drawing blood, processing prescription refills, and assists with minor procedures as directed by a physician or health practitioner.  The CMA acts as a practice ambassador contributing to overallpatient experience, safety, and privacy.  Other administrative duties include coordinating appointments, managing patient communication and ensuring the smooth operation of the pediatric mobile clinic.

Qualifications:

Required: 

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Medical Assistant Certification required or the ability and willingness to obtain certification from one of the following recognized organizations within 60days of hire: NHA, NCCT, AMT, AAMA, NCMA, AMCA, NAHP,
  • Job title will reflect Medical Assistant and will convert to Certified Medical Assistant uponproof of certification
  • BLS Certification approved by AHA
  • At least 6 months of relevant experience and/or training or equivalent combination of education and experience, preferably in a pediatric setting,

Preferred:

  • Bilingual, Spanish-speaking preferred
  • Previous vaccination experience preferred,

Scheduling Requirements:

  • PT 
  • Days
  • This position is part-time up to 15 hours per week on a pediatric mobile van equipped to provide general pediatric care typically during after-school hours,

Job Specific Requirements

  • Communicates with insurance providers and handles pre-authorizations and certifications as necessary
  • Communicates with patients and other providers per the instruction of the overseeing physician or health practitioner
  • Creates and maintains health record information, files and organizes as needed
  • Performs clinical tasks such as blood draws, hearing and vision screens, urinalysis, injections, vaccinations, and medication administration as needed
  • Prepares rooms, arranges instruments and equipment, and ensures a neat and sanitary environment
  • Rooms patients, verifies patient information, confirms purpose of visit, obtains and records vitals and updates medical history
  • Supports practice needs with clerical tasks such as answering phones, scheduling appointments, verifying insurance, collecting co-pays, preparing labrequests, and other clerical tasks as assigned

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

o Demonstrates a clear understanding of the importance of patient satisfaction and safety

o Ability to take vital signs and perform a patient assessment

o Administration of medications as directed by physician or health practitioner

o Phlebotomy and EKG preferred

o Proficient knowledge of medical terminology

o Strong written and oral communication skills essential with the ability to relate and communicate well to all cultural and ethnic groups in the community

o Attention to accuracy and detail

o Ability to work independently and in a team environment

o Ability to multitask, prioritize and work under pressure

o Knowledge of electronic medical record systems, preferred

Current and valid driver s license, registration, inspection sticker, and appropriate level of insurance coverage required, to include collision to perform the essential duties of the position
