Bar & Desk Manager

The Aloft Indianapolis Downtown (New Marriott property opening August 2024) is looking for an energetic, results driven and knowledgeable individual to oversee the evening W XYZ Bar and Front Desk operations at Indy's newest and trendiest hotel destination; boasting 128 guestrooms, a full-service bar and a small plate dining concept. Aloft is a hip Marriott lifestyle brand focused on style, personality and a lively hotel social scene to cater to the next gen traveler.

This is an incredibly unique opportunity for an individual with bar or restaurant management experience to oversee a beverage program and bar operations, but also gain knowledge of hotel operations with front desk oversight for career growth and development.

As W XYZ Bar & Desk Manager, you will be in charge of:

  • Curating the beverage program at W XYZ Bar
  • Own local marketing efforts and weekly lobby activations around F&B
  • Interviewing, hiring and developing a successful bar and front desk team.
  • Overseeing and achieving budgeted revenues and expenses and maximizing profitability related to the F&B & Front Desk departments.
  • Ensuring food and drinks quality and availability to guests in a timely and efficient manner through continuous evaluation and coaching processes.
  • Maintaining procedures for credit control and handling of financial transactions, security of monies, guest security and emergency procedures.
  • Receiving departmental related guest feedback and ensuring coaching sessions, training and action plans resulting in the improvement of guest satisfaction scores.
  • Assisting in monitoring and developing team member performance and safety to include, but not limited to, providing supervision, coaching & counseling and evaluations.
  • Creating, maintaining and performing inventories and purchases for the department; while maintaining operation and financial balance.

Requirements

  • High school graduate or equivalent.
  • Must have prior bartending experience
  • Prior leadership experience preferred
  • Must have second shift availability
  • Must be able to speak, hear, write and understand the English language in a professional manner.
  • Proficiency in the use of a computer is necessary (i.e. Microsoft Office Suite).
  • Must be able to sit/stand/walk for long periods of time.
  • Ability to handle pressure situations and exercise good judgment
  • Must have previous experience in the Rooms Division, in a supervision role, for a period of two or more years.
  • Must demonstrate strong leadership skills and the ability to nurture managers-in-training.
  • Must be detail-oriented and organized.
  • Must be able to work closely and communicate with all associates, departments, guests, and clients in a professional manner.
  • Must be highly service-oriented.
