The Employment Development Department (EDD) is looking for a highly motivated and qualified individual to work in the Business Intelligence Data Warehousing Group (BI DWG). The Information Technology Associate works as an Associate Data Warehousing Solution Developer for the Employment Development Department's (EDD) BI DWG.


The incumbent represents the interest of EDD's program customers, Department goals, and IT Branch directives in developing new Business Intelligence (BI) capabilities which lead to cost savings, improved analytical decision making and faster response times for external and internal information requests.


This position may be eligible for a hybrid work schedule. The amount of telework is at the discretion of the Department and is subject to change as business needs arise. Employees are required to report to their headquarters office on their assigned in-office days. Travel expenses to and from the assigned headquarters are the responsibility of the employee.

Desirable Qualifications

In addition to evaluating each candidate's relative ability, as demonstrated by quality and breadth of experience, the following factors will provide the basis for competitively evaluating each candidate:


Experience, knowledge and/or training in the following areas:

  • BI Solutions development in collaboration with business customers and other technical domain experts using Microsoft or other reporting and analysis software.
  • Microsoft SQL Server database administration.
  • Database design and modeling.
  • Understanding of building APIs and/or API gateways.
  • Understanding of the development in various Cloud Environment (public cloud, private cloud, hybrid cloud).
  • Microsoft SQL Server databases, capacity planning, performance tuning, backup/restore, troubleshooting, and maintaining high availability in complex environments and mission critical applications.
  • Create scripts using VB Script, Batch Language and Microsoft PowerShell.
  • Microsoft SQL Server, Microsoft SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS), Microsoft SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS).
  • Building/deploying/maintaining and supporting SSIS packages and SSRS reports.
  • Building/deploying SQL Jobs, including database maintenance packages.
  • C# programming.
  • Data extraction from SQL and IBM DB2 databases.
  • BI software support and user training.
  • Planning, design and implementation of data models, data mart and data warehouses.
  • ETL tools and processes.
  • Experience in integrating and extracting relevant information from large amounts of both structured and unstructured data (internal and external) to enable analytical solutions.
  • Experience manipulating large data sets through statistical software (ex. SAS) or other methods.
  • Ability to produce technical documentation that helps people understand and use a product or service.
  • Experience researching and discovering new methods to acquire data, and new applications for existing data.
  • Ability to work flexible hours to address critical business needs.
